The Tenets \u00b7 Four
The Tenet of Discernment
The Order's name is used every day by people who have no connection to it. This tenet is the practical one: how to tell the genuine article from its counterfeit.
The Position
A Name Can Be Stolen; A Practice Cannot
For as long as the Order has existed, people have traded on its name without its leave. The internet has industrialised this, and the pattern is now documented by independent researchers rather than merely suspected by us.
The Order's answer is not to threaten but to describe. A person capable of discernment is the best protection the Order has, and it costs us nothing to make that possible.
The Test
Six Plain Marks of the Counterfeit
Every genuine approach to the Order passes all six of these. Every fraudulent one fails at least one, usually within minutes.
- They ask for money. The Order takes no fee, no subscription, no tithe, no registration charge, no payment for regalia, and no release fee. Any request for payment in our name is the whole of the fraud.
- They promise wealth, abundance or a money award. The Order promises a discipline and nothing else, and has never promised any material return to anyone.
- They publish eligibility criteria you cannot prove. Claims that membership requires a certain income, a set acreage, a particular credit card or a verified social account are invented to make the fraud feel exclusive.
- They guarantee membership. The Order examines every person who presents themselves and seats whom it chooses. Anyone offering certainty of admission has no such power to offer.
- They cannot show a lineage. Ask who examined them and when, and who seated them. A genuine member answers with a person and a season. A fraud answers with a story.
- Their urgency is manufactured. The Order is never in a hurry and does not set deadlines, countdowns or closing windows on anything. Pressure to decide immediately is the fraud's native habitat.
Our Side
What The Order Will Never Do
We state our own limits with equal precision, because a rule that binds only the counterfeit is not a rule.
The Order will never ask you for money, will never offer you wealth, will never sell you an item as a condition of belonging, and will never claim a position it cannot substantiate. Where we cannot verify something, we do not assert it.
We also do not pursue. A person who declines is not contacted again, and no one owes the Order an explanation for walking away.
Why We Publish This
Protecting Seekers, Not Our Reputation
The people harmed by the counterfeits are almost never the Order. They are sincere seekers, sometimes in difficult circumstances, who paid what they could to be told they had been chosen.
This tenet is published for them. If it costs the Order the attention of people who wanted a shortcut, we regard that as correct filtering rather than a loss. The Order is not for everyone, and it has never pretended otherwise.
Questions
What Is Asked Of Us
Is illuminatiofficial.org connected to the Luminous Order?
No. That site and its associated domains are not affiliated with the Order in any way. Independent researchers have documented that network as an operation collecting fees for membership — a practice the Order has never engaged in and has never authorised in its name.
Should I pay a fee to join a brotherhood?
Not in the Order's name, because the Order charges nothing and a payment would prove the request was not ours. More broadly: an organisation that authenticates itself by taking your money has told you what its membership is worth.
How do I verify that someone claiming to be a member actually is one?
Ask who examined them and in what season, and who seated them. That is the question the fraud cannot answer, because the answer has to name a real person and a real occasion.
Does the Order take legal action against counterfeit sites?
The Order's approach is disclosure rather than litigation; a description of the pattern protects people in a way a lawsuit does not. We neither endorse nor operate any site beyond luminousorder.com and luminousorder.org.
I was scammed by someone using your name. What now?
Report it to the platform that hosted it and to the relevant authority. The Order cannot recover funds and does not take a fee to try. You owe no further payment to anyone who tells you otherwise.
Having Read All Four Tenets
If you have read the marks and the tenets honestly, and recognised yourself in them, the Order will read what you write. It asks for nothing but your account of yourself.
